About Me
Hi, I'm Darius. I'm a PhD student in Biomedical AI at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf in the lab of Prof. Stefan Bonn, where I am broadly working on better understanding (characterization → modeling → control) differences in spatial organization of cells in health and disease. Specifically, I have developed two spatial domain identification methods, aiming to address shortcomings of existing methods such as limited scalability and lack of multi-scale support. Currently I am focusing on modeling multi-cellular behavior leading to spatial organization using Graph Neural Cellular Automata and multi-agent reinforcement learning. Moreover I am working on building AI infrastructure to accelerate biomedical research timelines. On an even higher level I am fascinated by complex systems control and its applications at different scales ranging from medicine to politics. In my opinion the key idea to achieve this is exploiting the collective intelligence of the system to reduce the amount of computation required to steer the system towards a desired state.
